Empowered by other women around her, Contempo Property Holdings Inc. (CPHI) CEO and President Beverly Dayanan reveals that her concrete success in the male-dominated real estate industry would have been more challenging without a trusted kasambahay to keep her household running.

This was why she personally nominated 23-year-old Myrna Gerundalan for the 2022 KASAMBAHAY KASAMBUHAY Annual Search and Pilipinas Awards, a joint endeavor of the JCI Senate Philippines and Palawan Pawnshop Group to recognize outstanding house help for their hard work, dedication, and loyalty.

“Myrna has been serving our family for seven years and counting,” Dayanan said. “She does this while working for her degree as a working student in a local university. She would rather find another way to earn money than accept any financial aid from us. And as someone who once struggled to survive, I could understand that. So I thought it best to honor her dedication in processing the nomination.”

As a breadwinner who wanted to pursue her college education, Myrna Gerundalan left her hometown in Guihulngan, Negros Oriental when she was sixteen to search for opportunities in Cebu.

Now in her early twenties, she never imagined recognition as a 2022 Outstanding Kasambahay Kasambuhay Awardee. She was among the Top 10 who won out of almost 3,000 nominees in the country, bagging home a 100,000-peso cash prize for her family and continuing education.

“Giving tribute to this less attended sector in our society is one of the most laudable, inspiring, and heartwarming programs and advocacies there is in the country, if not the world,” Dayanan shared in a Facebook post congratulating her kasambahay for the well-deserved prize.
